Odebrecht Corruption Scandal Latest
Peruvian police have detained Edwin Luyo Barrientos, former Chairman of the Lima Metro Line 1 Tender Committee. He is suspected of having received US$7 million from Odebrecht in exchange for a contract to build the Lima Metro Line 1. Miguel Angel Navarro Portugal, former Transport and Communications Ministry official, has also been detained by police. Both men face bribery charges.
An arrest warrant has been issued against former Vice-Minister of Communications, Jorge Cuba. He served under ex-President Alan Garcia’s administration (2006-2011) and is accused of taking bribes from the Brazilian company Odebrecht.
